Missing out of Club Container: Fin for BIC Beginner Board (at value of R 1000 (special fin box)). As there is no broken piece left in the fin box, we have to assume that someone must have unscrewed the fin and displaced it. Please, if you know anything about the fin, let Micky or myself know.

The New Year calendar is just about ready for distribution and no prizes for guessing………..it looks like a busy year. Having hosted 5 national events this past season ( the most for any club last year!) , we are out of that loop this year but no doubt we will have the odd provincial regatta or gathering.
What it is going to do is allow us time to concentrate on good things for the club – People are already busy behind the scenes streamlining all the tedious but necessary administrative stuff such as our various mismatched and disjointed storage agreements, updating our membership contact details ( Help! please assist and update your details on the tab on this page left – even if don’t think yours have changed ), working on proposals for amendments to our very dated constitution - wearisome tasks but they will make all the difference – thanks guys.
Helping the community……..helping ourselves…..helping you.
One of the most exciting initiatives on this year will be a committed emphasis on broader youth development. It begins with introducing a ‘support team’ for our Lipton Sailors as well as a “Rescue Training” course run over a number of weekends for other interested youngsters. Not only will this introduce aquatic activities to those not previously exposed to it, it is a responsibility that we have to the community and ultimately it is in the clubs best interests. We have had a few ‘days’ entertaining a team or two, and it really is uplifting.
In addition this is an opportunity for all those who need to do their bit on the BBBEE scorecard - socio economic front – Up to 1% of your NPAT can be spent on this, and I really do not believe you could find a more genuine, transparent recipient……..and it doesn’t have to be ‘score card’ stuff – anyone can donate. Imagine how much easier your moral conscience will feel eased when you can politely and confidently tell all those other often dubious ‘charities’ that you are already doing your bit by donating the ‘MAC Aquatic Academy’ – we REALLY would appreciate your help and everything helps We need help with kit, fuel, food and equipment. (There is more detail for your perusal attached below.)
Upgrade of the whole Reserve
We are consulting with the Council on a bit of a ‘land swap’ which entails a slight change in our ‘footprint’ in the reserve, and not only does it appear to be mutually beneficial, what is exiting is that the Councils stated intention is to ‘significantly upgrade the whole reserve and the entrance and the immediate first impressions will make quite a statement’ – these improvements will be of tremendous benefit to the club and as soon as the draft designs and layouts are available, we will distribute them.
The first half of their budget has been passed for this year and the balance will be available next year, so it is all quite imminent. There will be costs for the club and we are going to need to raise cash of course. Over and above our traditional income streams, we are going to be looking at other options and we have a team who will be driving the fund raising – they have a few great ideas – please support them, again in all of our mutual best interests.
Please pay your subscriptions ASAP – We really need the cash!
Have you paid your subscription fees yet? Please do as soon as possible – we have offered you the option of paying monthly or quarterly, all we do ask is that you advise the club of what route you are taking – I am sure you appreciate there is significantly more administration in reconciling these options, and of course it has implications on our cash flow and we need to plan things. We really want to get cracking on quite a few long overdue upgrades and improvements – which, with the recently ‘increased / inflation adjusted’ subscriptions, are possible at last – but only when we get the cash.
If you have not paid, you are holding up things like clubhouse improvements - such as the showers, repainting, effective P.A./ Music system and probably more important things such as training equipment for the various sections, sail park racking, windsurfing container storage repairs, replacement and landscaping.
Whew! That’s about it for now………… It does seem that all I have done is ask for cash here………but please remember, all of this goes right back into the club for you and please don’t forget how much your contributions do for the development of all the aquatic activities we offer and the difference we make to children’s lives. Many people make sacrifices every weekend, involved in training, assisting on the bridge, working in the galley, propping up the bar – all of it helps - As I speak we have young sailors representing us in Ireland sailing, some in Italy skiing, we have MAC windsurfers peppered all over the world and more sailors off to Kenya next week – you really have to be proud of being a member of MAC………..and what ever you are doing, even if it is just paying your subscriptions, you really are making a difference. Thanks…..and keep it up!
